When is mediation the next step?

Mediation can be used when attempts to resolve a workplace or business dispute have stalled, but before the outcome is handed over to a formal investigation, tribunal or court. An independent mediator helps the people involved negotiate their own way forward.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you decide to participate

Not necessarily. Mediation can involve a joint discussion, separate rooms or online sessions. Colleen will discuss the options with each person during the private intake and assessment.

No. Mediation can help whenever people need to discuss a specific disagreement, make decisions or agree on what happens next.

That depends on the type of dispute and how the agreement is documented. It may remain an informal written record or be taken to a lawyer and formalised through the appropriate legal process.

An individual intake and assessment costs $380 per person, excluding GST. The joint mediation session costs $750 per person, excluding GST. Any additional costs, such as room hire, will be discussed before appointments are confirmed.
