COMMUNITY & PERSONAL DISPUTES

Community & Personal Dispute Mediation

When a dispute or complaint reaches a stalemate, mediation provides a structured way to make decisions and find a workable way forward.

Has the problem reached a stalemate?

If the problem needs an outcome and the people involved have been unable to resolve it themselves, mediation may provide the next step.

  • A complaint involving a council, not-for-profit or public organisation has not been resolved internally
  • Your organisation needs an independent mediator as part of its complaints resolution process
  • You and a service provider cannot agree about a contract, payment or how to end the arrangement
  • A neighbour problem continues to affect daily life
  • Family members cannot agree about an older person’s care or future
  • A disagreement over a will or estate has reached a stalemate
  • Communication has stopped or repeatedly breaks down

PRACTICAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION

What can mediation help resolve?

Mediation can be used for everyday disagreements, formal complaints and matters with legal implications.

Colleen guides the conversation so each person can explain their concerns, consider possible solutions and try to agree on what happens next.

Neighbour Disputes

Neighbour mediation can help resolve ongoing disputes involving barking dogs, noise, trees, fences, boundaries, parking, shared access or behaviour.

Complaints & Community Disputes

Independent mediation can help councils, not-for-profits, public bodies and community organisations resolve complaints that have not been settled internally.

Service Provider Disputes

Mediation can help clients and service providers resolve disagreements about contracts, payments, unfinished work or ending an arrangement.

Family, Wills & Elder Mediation

Mediation can help adult families resolve disagreements about relationships, an older person’s care, living arrangements, responsibilities, finances, a will or an estate.

Initial conversation

02

Individual meetings

Before mediation, each person has a private conversation with Colleen. Encompass can contact the other person, invite them to participate and explain what happens next.

03

Mediation

Mediation may take place together, in separate rooms or online. Colleen guides the conversation while you work towards decisions and agreements that everyone can accept.
